Thelma House Values

Aroha - Love

Love makes the world go round! ‘Finding Your Happy’ at Thelma House is exploring what you love, giving love, and accepting love. Here at Thelma House, we place great importance on connecting with and supporting all individuals who come our way, recognizing beauty from within. We encourage sharing and caring in all we do.

Whanaungatanga - Kinship

Connection between people creates opportunities and friendships. Family, partners, and work relationships are supported at Thelma House through our ‘Dream Coaching,’ ‘Accommodation,’ and ‘Workshops and Events.’ Through shared experiences and working together, we provide all who come to Thelma House a sense of belonging and of being ‘seen and heard.’

Mana Manaaki - Respect of Individuals

Thelma House is committed to upholding the dignity of all people with warmth, listening, respect, compassion, openness, and fairness.

Tikanga - Customs and Practices

Doing things the right way according to our values gives us direction and grounding in our everyday lives. Acknowledging our history helps us look back to move forward with strength and purpose. We encourage individuals to follow or create new traditions in their lives, as these become the building blocks of a strong foundation.

Tūturu - Authenticity

We encourage and empower all individuals to find, accept, and live their authentic selves every day. We lead by example and welcome honesty and individuality in all we do and teach.

Te Taiao - Environment or Nature

The interconnection of People and Nature. At Thelma House, it is paramount that we not only respect our environment and all who walk and live in it, but we also give thanks for all that it ‘is,’ big or small. This is evident through our gardening, accommodation, recycling practices, and the animals that bless us with their companionship.

Whakapapa - Knowing who you are, where you belong

We want Thelma House to be a melting pot of cultural and spiritual diversity. Wherever your homeland, whatever your native tongue, gender, or age, we welcome you here and look forward to sharing our space with you.
